Scope
Use this skill when the user asks for any combination of:
- Landing pages, product marketing sites, or SaaS homepages.
- Web app shells, dashboards, or interactive product UIs.
- Design reviews of existing sites (copy, layout, visuals).
- Implementation-grade guidance (HTML/CSS/JS, React, etc.) with strong aesthetics.
The user may provide:
- Screenshots, copy, or a live URL.
- A rough idea for a product or site.
- Technical constraints (framework, performance, accessibility).
- Brand context or inspiration.
Your responsibility is to turn that into a clear, effective product story and a distinctive, well-executed interface.
Design Thinking
Before proposing changes or writing any code, understand the context and commit to a clear direction:

- Who uses it, and in what situation?
- What action should visitors take (sign up, book demo, install, explore)?

- Pick a strong direction, not a vague middle:

- The direction must fit the audience and purpose.
- Pick a strong direction, not a vague middle:

- Frameworks and stacks (React, Vue, HTML/CSS only, etc.).
- Performance and accessibility requirements (Lighthouse, WCAG).
- Device targets (desktop-first, mobile-first, dashboards, etc.).

- What makes this product and interface unforgettable?
- What is the one visual or structural idea someone will remember after closing the tab?
CRITICAL: Choose a clear conceptual direction and execute it with precision. Bold maximalism and refined minimalism both work; unintentional, generic in-between does not.
Product-Site Messaging & Structure
Your first job on any marketing or product site is communication.
1. Five-Second Clarity
Above the fold, the page must answer:
- What is this? (Category + plain language)
- Who is it for? (Role/segment)
- Why is it better/different? (Key differentiation)
- What do I do next? (Primary CTA)
If any of these is unclear:
- Rewrite the headline and subheadline.
- Reframe or reduce competing CTAs.
- Explain what happens when the user takes the action.
2. Talk in the Userâs Language
- Use vocabulary the target user actually uses in their work.
- For finance: DCFs, models, decks, Excel workflows.
- For AI infra: agents, tools, routing, costs, reliability.
- Replace invented abstractions and buzzwords:
- Instead of âprogressive discovery, smart navigation, precise executionâ say:
- âEasily see what tools exist.â
- âRoute each request to the right tool.â
- âRun agent calls reliably at scale.â

3. Single Clear CTA per View
- Above the fold and for each major section, choose one primary CTA:

- Do not ask for money or commitment (pricing forms, payment) before users know:

4. Hierarchy and Section Structure
For each scroll depth:
- Decide the sectionâs job:
- Hero (what/for whom)
- Social proof
- Use cases & demos
- How it works
- Pricing
- About/team
- Maintain a consistent pattern:
- Headline â short explanatory copy â focused visual â single CTA.
- Remove decorative boxes and floating cards that donât clearly explain:
- Product UI
- Workflow
- Outcome/metric
5. Social Proof and Logos
- Use a clear âUsed by teams atâŠâ band with recognizable logos.
- Avoid:
- Janky hover states, snapping highlights, and unreadable logos.
- Third-party logos (e.g., accelerators) visually dominating your brand.
- Use quotes and case studies to reinforce:
- Concrete outcomes (âcut response time by 40%â),
- Rather than vague praise.
6. Motion and Video
- Motion should support reading, not fight it.
- Delay heavy animation until after the hero copy is readable.
- Avoid constant, high-intensity motion when users are trying to read.
- For demos and loading states:
- Show what is happening (tools being called, steps executed).
- Focus attention on one main area, not spinners everywhere.
- Make it obvious what parts of videos are:
- Real product UI vs. conceptual montage.
7. Access and Exploration
- Avoid âsign in to see anythingâ empty states for marketing surfaces.
- Show example projects, demo flows, or public galleries.
- Offer a limited free interaction before sign-up where possible.
- Make âBook a demoâ explicit:
- What happens, who youâll meet with, how long it takes.
Frontend Aesthetics & Implementation
When the user asks for actual UI design or code, you must elevate the execution while keeping it buildable.
1. Anti-Template / Anti-AI-Slop
Avoid default AI/frontend âslopâ:
- Overused fonts and combos:
- Inter, Roboto, Arial, and the same trendy display faces used everywhere.
- Cliché color schemes:
- Especially purple gradients on white with massive soft shadows.
- Predictable layouts:
- Identical hero structure, generic feature grid, generic cards.
- Randomly pasted components with mismatched radii, borders, and paddings.
Decide whether to:
- Go calm/systematic:
- Neutral palette, system fonts, very clean hierarchy.
- Or distinct/expressive:
- Bolder typography, custom color choices, unique layout moves.
But in either case, execute with consistency and intent.
2. Typography
- For expressive brand interfaces:
- Pair a distinctive display font with a refined, legible body font.
- Avoid defaulting to the same trendy AI/website pairings across generations.
- For non-designers or utility surfaces:
- Using system fonts can be a safe choice, especially for dense dashboards.
- Always:
- Establish 2â4 text styles (e.g., hero, section heading, body, caption).
- Keep line length and spacing comfortable.
- Use clear hierarchy: headlines must be scannable and distinct.
3. Color & Theme
- Commit to a cohesive palette:
- 1â2 base tones, 1 accent, 1â2 neutrals.
- Use CSS variables or design tokens for consistency.
- Make CTAs clearly stand out without relying on neon or mismatched colors.
- Be intentional about light vs. dark:
- Donât auto-choose; pick what fits the product and aesthetic direction.
4. Motion and Micro-Interactions
- Use motion for:
- Page-load sequences (staggered reveals).
- Key interactions (hover effects on primary CTAs, cards, tabs).
- Feedback (success/error states).
- Prefer CSS for simple effects; frameworks (e.g., motion libraries) for complex sequences.
- One well-orchestrated animation is better than dozens of random ones.
5. Spatial Composition
- Explore:
- Asymmetry, overlapping layers, and interesting grids.
- Generous negative space for premium/minimal brands.
- Controlled density for dashboards and complex apps.
- Keep alignment and spacing consistent:
- Use a grid and spacing scale.
- Avoid random gaps, misaligned captions, and floating elements without anchors.
6. Backgrounds & Visual Atmosphere
- Avoid default flat white with a single gradient blob unless it is intentionally minimal.
- Add atmosphere that supports the concept:
- Gradient meshes, subtle noise, geometric patterns, layered transparencies.
- Vignettes, soft shadows, or glows to create depth.
- Make sure the background never hurts readability or competes with content.
7. Detail Polish
- Radii: consistent system (e.g., 4/8/16) across cards and inputs.
- Shadows: either remove entirely or define a small, consistent set.
- Borders: consistent color and thickness; no accidental double borders.
- Hover states:
- Smooth transitions; no snapping.
- Similar behavior for similar elements.
8. Match Complexity to Vision
- Maximalist designs:
- Expect more complex layout, more components, more motion.
- Implementation needs structured code and careful performance consideration.
- Minimalist/refined designs:
- Use fewer visual tricks, but demand higher precision:
- Spacing, typography, and subtle details matter more.
